Role Overview

The Software Development Engineer in Test - 2 plays a critical role in safeguarding product quality by designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test solutions. This role ensures that software releases are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business expectations by partnering closely with engineering teams to detect issues early, accelerate delivery, and improve overall development efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for web and/or backend applications.
  • Create and execute test strategies covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code for test automation and supporting utilities.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define test coverage and quality standards.
  • Identify, document, triage, and track defects, and work with engineering teams to drive timely resolutions.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster feedback loops.
  • Analyze test results, debug failures, and improve test reliability, maintainability, and execution performance.
  • Contribute to Agile development processes by participating in sprint planning, reviews, and quality discussions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in software test automation or SDET roles
  • Strong coding skills with hands-on experience in at least one programming language
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining automated test suites
  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test design, and defect lifecycle
  • Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar
  • Knowledge of API testing tools and practices
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience testing scalable, distributed, or cloud-based applications
  • Exposure to performance, security, or mobile testing
